With Summer in full swing it’s the perfect time to take your outdoor entertaining up a notch. When having kids + adults over it’s always fun to have a theme, and what could be better than some patio s’mores under the stars?
We set out to create a space that’s fun + functional, and apart from having a cozy seating area for everyone to gather, it’s equally important to have a station for all your drinks and food. When we came across this budget friendly potting bench, it seemed like the perfect thing to transform into a DIY entertaining station.
The first step was to put the potting bench together, which took maybe an hour tops. Then to both weather proof it and increase the bench’s style factor we painted it with Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint in the lovely Chateau Grey. For a final touch we added Annie Sloan’s matte clear lacquer for extra protection from the elements.
Then it was onto the styling! You all know, one of our favorite tricks is to add greenery, and those back metal grates were the perfect backdrop to weave in some faux plants. Add in your favorite beverages, a classic s’mores set up for the kids, and it’s super easy to just sit back and let everyone help themselves throughout the evening.
