I still remember the day I was given my first paper planner. It was first grade. Yep, you read that correctly. Our elementary school gave a spiral bound planner to each incoming first grader. I can still picture the colorful weekly layout where i’d carefully print in my best handwriting that week’s assignments, and joyfully show my parents at the end of the week to have it signed. My mom owned her own company and swore by her planner. I loved how her perfect cursive graced each page. I used to dream of the day when I too, could have my own planner. Apparently, that day was going to be when I was 7 years old! I went from my own daily planner like my mom had, then graduated to a more stylish Kate Spade planner in high school and college, to eventually discovering the the LifePlanner by Erin Condren. I was sold. Forever. So when Erin Condren asked me to partner with them to show you how amazing their new PetitePlanner Folio System is…I couldn’t wait. From the second I opened it, it was love at first sight!
Why Use Paper
- Using a paper planner forces you to slow down, evaluate your tasks and obligations and truly screen your week. I find it incredibly therapeutic to sit down every Sunday and plan out my week. It’s part of my self care.
- It’s proven that writing by hand allows you to retain more information that just entering information into your phone or computer
- Your phone or computer literally can’t do it all. Typically people have an app for their calendar, another for to-do, another for nutrition and weekly meal planning, etc. Your constantly having to check your phone…aren’t we all trying to reduce our screen time?
- There is nothing more satisfying than a beautifully designed planner that can literally do it all. Also…physically checking something off your list? It doesn’t get any better.
- Just a few days ago I looked at my old planner from 2013-2014 (Yep, still have it) It’s kinda like a scrap book. I wrote in there the first time I felt Marielle kick, the first time she had hiccups, and the day she came into this world. Cue the tears guys…paper planners are a true history of your life.

I don’t have time to be a planner girl
Do you have time to workout? Meal Plan? Read a book? Do you have time to Netflix? Then you have time to be a planner girl. In all honesty, yes. You have to WANT to do this. But I truly urge you to give it a try. If you don’t want to commit to a full year, just purchase one 3 month petite planner and see where it takes you. But something tells me you’re going to love it.
