There are few things that are more frustrating then trying to untangle a delicate necklace. Just when you think you’ve got it – another knot always seems to appear. If this sounds all too familiar, it may be time to assess your jewelry storage situation. I did just that this week, and with help from The Container Store’s elegant jewelry Stackers, I’ll never have a tangled necklace again! Read on for our best advice on how to organize and store your jewelry and accessories.
Gather all your jewelry + accessories together
Often we have our jewelry spread out into different areas or drawers. Designate one place to store your valuable items. A closet is a great option if you have room (if you missed it – here’s our guide on closet organization). Many people will also store their jewelry in a bathroom or a bedroom drawer. Whatever works best for you, try to consolidate everything into one place.
Think about the last time your wore it
I’m about as sentimental as they come, and I totally understand wanting to keep your grandmother’s jewelry that was handed down. But for those items that you never wear, and were an inexpensive purchase it may be time to think about parting ways. Costume jewelry can be donated, or sold at a second hand store. For jewelry that has monetary value, you can likely sell it online or many jewelry stores will take trade in’s or will offer to purchase. The same goes for items like sunglasses or watches, just because you’re ready to part with them doesn’t mean that someone else wouldn’t love them!
Take inventory
Now that you’ve pared down your accessories, it’s time to think about how much space you need to store them. One of our favorite jewelry organizers is The Container Store’s Stackers. These Stackers are a compact solution to store and display all of your jewelry without taking up valuable drawer space. We love that you can buy as many or as few trays as you need to accommodate your collection, and they all fit perfectly together. In my case, I have a bit of an obsession with statement earrings. I made sure to choose one of the Stackers with the earring dividers, and I’ve never had an easier time finding them in the morning.
