I’ve had my eye on those whimsical floral hoop wreaths for years… but always felt too intimidated to make one. For whatever reason this holiday season I finally decided to kick it into gear and figure out the process. And you know what?! They are SO easy to put together. We hope you enjoy this simple DIY holiday hoop wreath tutorial – with the entire project coming in at just under $20.
At Style and Dwell we are all about EASY DIY projects, because let’s be honest with each of us having two little kids anything complicated would never get done. Remember those simple dip dyed terra-cotta pots we did? Yep, this is the same skill level. In fact my 5 year old and I knocked a hoop wreath out in about 15 minutes over a cup of hot cocoa. Here’s what we did and what you’ll need to make your own:
Holiday hoop wreath supplies:
– Twine (I just used some that I had laying around)
– Gold spray paint (this is my favorite for that matte brass/ gold look – I always have it on hand)
– Bells (how beautiful is the antique look of these, and the chime is so pretty!)
– Floral wire (I went with gold, but honestly green would have been the better choice)
– Greenery (feel free to get creative here, you may even be able to use what’s in your yard – although I did get mine at a local nursery)
Putting together your hoop wreath:
Now that you have all your supplies take the hoop and spray it gold (you can obviously leave it as is too). Then grab your floral wire and begin wrapping your greenery around the hoop. You really only need to go half – 3/4th of the way around the hoop. I love layering the greenery on top of one another to give the wreath a nice full look. Finally tie the bells on with the twine … and guess what? You’re done!
There’s so many other variations that you could do (add in some berries or seasonal flowers or even a ribbon). We’d love to see what you do with yours! We hope you’ve loved this simple DIY holiday hoop wreath tutorial. The wreath would be great to hang indoors and outdoors, in fact I think I’m doing both this year!
Happy holiday decorating!
