The Problem
When we moved into our 1941 home right before my second kiddo was born, I was so excited for all the new space we were going to have…and then I took a peek at the closets. There are two bedrooms on the second floor including the master…which has a beautiful walk in closet. However, I wanted to have both my kids upstairs so my husband I chose the bedroom on the main floor that has two teeny tiny closets. The good news? We each have our own closet space. The bad news? These closets included a hanging rod and that’s about it. Clothes were piling up and toppling over on the single shelf above the bowing hanging rod, and my clothes were so squished together they were wrinkled and I couldn’t even see what I had. It was time to do something about it!
The Solution
I discovered the Elfa Classic 3′ Closet Kit from The Container Store and I knew it was the perfect solution to my problem. It is a part of their Grab & Go Solutions. What does that mean? That means it’s easier than ever to have custom closet and here’s why. The Container Store offers pre-kit closet solutions with everything you need. All you have to do is measure your space and purchase the solution that fits. I have a 3′ foot closet, so I ordered the 3′ closet kit. It couldn’t have been easier. I placed my order, drove up to The Container Store, and the wonderful staff loaded the entire kit into my car. I could’t wait to get it installed!
Yes, You CAN Install it Yourself
All you need to install the kit is a drill, a level, pencil and about a hour. The kit includes all the hardware you need for both drywall and wood installations and there are super helpful videos online on how to install the system.
Key Features
The Top Track: This amazing feature allows you to install the whole system while only drilling 4 holes in your wall. The brackets that hold the shelves, called standards, simply slide onto this track allowing you get the perfect fit, even if your closet isn’t perfectly level (like mine!)
Customizable Configurations: The Container Store shows you 4 different configurations that work well with this system, but the options are endless. I ended up adding two more of the shelves (included) to the bottom of my system to store my jewelry box and an extra basket. When you have a tiny closet, you have to take advantage of that vertical space!
Ease of Install: It may seem intimidating to install a closet system on your own, but the Grab and Go systems make it fool proof.
Cost Efficient: You too can have a beautifully organized closet even if you’re on a budget. Right now, The Container Store is offering 30% off on Elfa systems, so head on over to your local store and grab one! I added a few of my favorite Beach House Storage Bins to complete the project and add even more storage.
Small Spaces can be Stylish Too!
Before I installed my closet system, I added a little something extra to give it a little more style. Wallpaper! I used a pretty in pink pattern from Hygge & West. I finished it off with a faux fur rug and pretty step stool and now I feel like I have a luxurious closet even on a small scale! One more tip to make your closet feel organized and cohesive is to use matching hangers. I love these white wooden hangers from The Container Store.
Thank you so much to The Container Store for partnering on this project. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
