Kids sure come with a whole lot of “stuff.” There’s the essentials like the snacks and water bottles. Then of course the obligatory change of clothes. Oh and don’t forget about their favorite toy or something new to keep them occupied. And if your little ones are still in diapers… geesh anyone else starting to feel like you’re packing up for a week long trip?!
Since there’s no denying it’s hard to take a minimal approach with kids, and still stay prepared for the unexpected- which is always too be expected! We decided to round up our very best hacks for keeping the family organized, while on the go. We made sure that our favorite products met the criteria of: keeping said “stuff” under control + easily accessible.
The car organizer: while a simple container will do, we love this compact car organizer tote. It keeps items from sliding around and it easily fits on the floor of the backseat. It also has tons of compartments, which comes in handy even after kids are out of diapers. We also love that it comes with handles so it’s truly a grab and go item.
The non-diaper bag, diaper bag: Having personally gone through an embarrassingly high number of diaper bags before finally finding one that I liked, I will say this is not an easy piece of equipment to get right! You want something with enough pockets (but the right size pockets), lightweight (but that won’t fall over when set down), and something that will continue to work well past the infant phase… can you tell this was a personal struggle?! I finally settled on the Skip Hop diaper bag backpack, and haven’t looked back since!
The Pockit Stroller: Did you all know that a stroller existed that weighs less than 10lbs, can carry up to 55lbs, and will fold up to fit in a backpack?! When Ashley told me about the Pockit Stroller, I was literally stunned, and wondered how I didn’t know about this magical piece of child carrying equipment.
The backpack carrier: while on the topic of child carrying, let me introduce you to something I newly discovered, which combines a diaper bag + stroller into one: phil&teds parade backpack carrier . I love having my hands free, and this is great for both hiking and running errands around town. It weighs just 4lbs and will carry up to a 40lb child. It has more than enough pockets and zippered storage, and the sweetest little detachable backpack for your little one.
Do you have any favorite pieces that keep you organized while on the go? Send us a note, as we’d love to hear what’s working!
Love,
Ashley and Lindsay
